We’re back again, my favourite time of the month as always. This one has everything from wistful ambience from the eternally prolific Vaagner label, to dubbed out lushness from the Limbo label, to a varied and wonderful comp from No Way Back, and of course everything else in between. As always there’s something for all, get in there and show your support.

V/A — TESTFM VA1

Resident: O To O
Label: TESTFM

Big digi only comp out on TESTFM featuring a track by the O To O boys under the name Smood.

Synth blips softened by some lovely low fidelity distortion across the drums maintaining a serious groove for the duration. Even sounds like there’s a break in the background squashed into non-existence. Some really lovely textures throughout this, and the same can be said for the rest of the comp!

V/A — Shape Shifting Creatures Of Limbo

Resident: Limbo Radio
Label: Limbo Tapes

The Limbo outfit return for another comp for all of our listening pleasures.

In a true dubbed out form, lush pads across and enough spring and delay to see you through the summer months.

Titus 12 and Dive Reflex Service at the core of this one as well as welcoming Noods friends Rodney, O$VMV$M and Om Unit onto the thing. Go listen you wont be disappointed.

Lucas Alvarado — Antes Que Las Palabras

Resident: Renunciation Of The Self
Label: Vnvs Mvndvs

Set sail through Lucas Alvarado’s immersive sound palettes, sweet field recordings dipped in strings and soft piano tappings.

Sometimes drawn out, sometimes snappy, sometimes sombre, all the cuts on this are fit to fill out a film or two.

Self released so go and show some support!

Low End Activist — Get Dark ft Razor

Resident: Sneaker Social Club
Label: Sneaker Social Club

Sneaker Social Club back again with a serious heater of a record. Punishing rhythm on the title track reminiscent of.. I don’t know, Shed? All that post-dubstep last decade? Garage? Whatever, it’s an amalgam of all those things in a perfect way.

Vocals raw and untouched adding some grit to be welcomed. Complimented by John T. Gast and Silas adding their own flavour on the remix duties too. Well worth the purchase, your record shelf will thank you.

V/A — Stir Crazy Vol. 2

Resident: No Way Back
Label: No Way Back

Strap your moonboots on for another instalment of non-stop-bops from the No Way Back hivemind.

This V/A has everything you need to get warmed up for the return of the dancefloor. Glassy rollers with shimmery windchimes enchanted with dubbed out basslines, all whisked with tasty breaks. And if that wasn’t enough, all proceeds go to Borderlands charity, helping refugees in and around Bristol.

Matteo Stella — Stir Soundscapes Of A Lonely Valley EP

Resident: Slow Burning Morning Dew
Label: Self Released

Grab your headphones, close your eyes, and escape to the tranquil Italian countryside, with this EP from sound artist Matteo Stella.

Field recordings galore with just a dash of soft chords to compliment.

Stroll through a soundscape of bird calls, lambs in the valley, crunchy snow, a calming ring of bells in the distance… Like camomile tea for your earholes.

Andy Mac & Jay L — Planet Spanner

Resident: Jay L & Andy Mac
Label: Deep Street

Two bossmen back again with some more timeless house cuts ready for rooftop blasting.

One each, one together and a special Bandcamp bonus ready to take you to space. There’s so much groove in all of these tracks, your friends will be impressed when you whack this on at the BBQ, “stick another Linda McCartney on and what the fuck is this track!?” type thing.

Yosuke Tokunaga — 9 Mezzotints

Resident: Vacast
Label: Vaagner

One of four releases out last month from the ever prolific Vaagner label. I don’t know how they keep doing it! If I HAD to choose one it would probably be this one though.

Seriously addictive organic sounds drawn out and messed with a little from the Japanese native. Beautiful textures and at times wistful this thing fuses detail and timbre so expertly. Highly recommend.
