Some perspective in the midst of the Corona storm

Today I shared some reflections with the Noquo Foods team and I thought it could be useful for others too in these overwhelming times.

Hi team,
last night my head was wandering around trying to make sense of the current Corona crisis, it’s severe impact on society, the pain and suffering, the potential solutions etc. as I’m sure you all can relate to.
How on earth can I relate to the biggest humanitarian crisis since the second world war?
These overwhelming times deserve reflection and perspective which is what I want to offer you with this email. I want us to remember the extreme importance and urgency of our work at Noquo Foods.
While this virus is spreading around the world, we are also actively changing this planet in ways that will severely impact all life as we know it. Our population continues to grow, we are yet to peak greenhouse emissions heating up our planet, figure out how to not deplete our water resources and stop deforestation. Continuing on this path is putting one million species at risk of being extinct in the coming decades and life as we humans know it will be painfully challenged.
A significant part of the problem stems from the fact that we every year raise 50 billion, yes billion, animals (not including fish) to either eat directly or to milk in an unimaginably inefficient (and cruel) way. This has to change, quickly.
Being able to develop and offer food alternatives that people will choose over animal based food products is critical in achieving this change. Cheese among other products will have to be reinvented.
While we are expected to get the virus under control in the coming 12 months, the existential threat to life as we know it is still out of control and we are running out of time to fix it.
So maybe we needed this Corona crisis to be reminded about the importance of our mission?
Let’s stay safe and weather this storm as it passes by and let’s keep our heads high, be proud and remain focused so we can achieve our mission successfully.
Virtual hugs and kisses to you all :D
