The content you care about, stored where you want it.

Earlier we’ve written about document and query processing in the browser. Now it’s time for first method on adding content to i.e. a search-engine. Nowcontent.zyx is a configuration page for bookmarklets. It’s a bookmark running a small JavaScript when clicked. The small JavaScripts take the page URL, title and text from the body-tag and send it to your preferred service.

So far we’ve added the possibility to add content to JSONbin.io, Sanity.io and Zapier.com. PR’s for new services are more than welcome!

Use cases: Serverless search and … other things?

The initial use case for Nowcontent.zyx is to feed a serverless search solution with content. More specific, small search solutions. You can read more about that in The volatile search engine as a use case.

But since there could be many more use cases, and the server costs are next to nothing, we’ve chosen to make it a separate service and see how it evolves and what the needs are.

The last part before the future is here

So, we now have data in, with Nowcontent.xyz, and document- and query processing, with Daq-proc. The only part missing now, before the first chapter of lots of free search engines for everybody is the actual search engine library. A re-write of norch-vue is needed to make the actual search engine Nowsearch.xyz run in the browser and not on the server. Hopefully we’ll have something out around the end of the year.
