Drake —More Life Review

More Life. More Drake. More Music. More Heart. More Heartbreak. More Tings. Drake is back again with a 22 track album…or playlist? And if you’re going to continue with your Caribbean accent — you better go all the way out wit dem ting.

I’ll start off by saying — I liked this album a lot more than I did Views. I’m going to really watch how I speak on Drake’s name, but Views seemed rushed in comparison. That’s not to say that Views didn’t have a few hits, because it did…just not a lot of standouts. And that’s coming from somebody that’s been listening from Drake since the come up.

Drake has more fun on More Life. The production is bouncy, rhythmic and fairly cohesive. It feels like a project that was practically made for the summertime. Drake continues to sing over club hits (“Passionfruit” & “Blem”). Yet he also sends out the occasional banger with “Free Smoke,” “No Long Talk,” and “Gyalchester.” It’s an odd mix but it works.

The few features on the album is what really impressed me. Jorja Smith’s voice perfectly accents Drakes on, “Get It Together.” 2 Chainz and Young Thug had one of the better verses on “Sacrifices.” And of course Drake brings back Yeezus for a jem like “Glow.”

More Life is a new take on Drake’s discography. Of course you still have Drake singing about the same old subject matter from time to time. But this album seems like a better and more polished transition towards the genre bending hip-hop/dancehall music he’s trying to make. “I’ve still got vibrations to send. More Life.” I’m giving this album a solid 8/10.
