Sesseljuhús Eco Center

Summary

Iceland is getting an increasingly popular destination for tourists. About 95% of these tourists visit the island because of it‘s nature.

At Sólheimar Eco Village there is a growing need from different groups that want to learn about sustainability.

Not only through a lecture, but through a hands on lessons where students are introduced directly to the matter at hand.

At Sólheimar there are two guesthouses and an Eco Center that can be used specifically for these groups. There are green houses, a Permaculture garden and a renewable energy garden that can be used in order to facilitate information to the students through hands on experience.

The objective of the project is to design and develop a lecture package for students of all ages and different nationalities that want to learn about sustainability at Sólheimar. Through this package they can learn what measures to make in order to take steps towards a more sustainable lifestyle. The lessons will be interactive, hands on and will be conducted in Sesseljuhús, in Sólheimars Greenhouses and in the Permaculture garden of Sólheimar.
