Mexico’s Ambassador to Canada, Francisco Suárez Dávila praised Mexico’s energy reform as a new opportunity for economic growth between Mexico, Canada and the United States.

In an interview with the Canadian Press, Ambassador Suárez noted that energy reform in Mexico will enable Mexico to improve energy production in shale gas and offshore exploration — two areas that are contributing to North American energy independence.

“Two years ago, four years ago, we did not have the phenomenal discoveries that have occurred in shale gas and in the Gulf (of Mexico),” Suarez said. “This is a huge geopolitical and political change in that North America becomes — even more so than it has already been — a powerhouse with the cheapest, and cleanest energy, which is gas.”
