We’re excited to be entering a team into the Humber Care Tech Challenge which will take place in Bridlington 5th and 6th of September.

The challenge is open to anyone over the age of 18 it is focused on innovative use of technology to make things easier for vulnerable people to get the help they need whilst also delivering efficiencies in health and social.

Prizes will be given for the winning concept on day one and the best prototype on day two. And the winners will be given help from Amazon, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the University of Hull to get their product to market.

Teams can be up to five people although there will also be an exercise on day one to match up those that don’t have a team.

We’re fortunate at North East Lincolnshire to have a shared Chief Executive for both the council and our CCG. So we’re collectively entering a team which currently includes:

  • a service owner from the CCG
  • a delivery lead from our Service Design Team
  • a front end developer from our ICT service
  • a back end developer from our ICT service

and we’re hoping the nature of our final role will become clear as our plans develop.

Our initial meeting touched on a number of really interesting spaces. In a nutshell our early thoughts are around how we might we use readily available technology such as:

  • wearable’s
  • sensor networks
  • internet of things
  • alexa

to help to solve problems around

  • everyday reminders
  • proactive monitoring and early help
  • staying in touch
  • dynamically making the best use of our resources
  • increasing social interaction

This will be our first experience of a hack event; and we’re hoping it will provide a great collaboration experience along with some positive exposure for the team.
