Here’s our update for March.

We’re on the home straight for our next event — the first Leading, together event on 23 March and there’s still time to book your place. We’re busy creating the materials for the day and getting on well with the collaboration toolkit version 1. We’ve also opened bookings for the June event, which builds on this month’s event.

Our planning for June and July’s NET x Human Learning Systems pop up event series continues with Dr Toby Lowe, Centre for Public Impact. We’ve now been joined by Becky Elton from Changing Lives now Laura Seebohm has moved on to pastures new at Maternal Mental Health Alliance. There’s more on the event below, and dates for your diaries!

If you’re feeling inspired by the NET x Human Learning Systems pop ups, don’t forget the NET team can collaborate with you to host your own. Talk with Robert, Marie or Stephanie if you’d like to do this.

Our upcoming events

Leading, together: Growing and developing collaborative leadership practice, 23 March, 09:30–16:30, Newcastle University Business School

A one-day event for North East Together members and others to grow and develop collaborative leadership practice in the north east. Together we’ll build on and explore what we (NET members) have created in whole network events, learn from others, and create new tools and understanding. We’ll be looking to move from theory to practice together, and each leave with an understanding of our collaborative leadership strengths and a plan for what we need to develop and how we might do this. Each place costs £125, with a small number of supported places at £65 including six for youth organisations supported by NEYA is funding and a further six for organisations in the Thriving Communities social prescribing network in the north east and Yorkshire.

If you are as committed to effective collaboration as we are, then this is the event for you — come join us.

Go straight to the booking form or read more first.

Leading, together: Growing and developing collaborative leadership practice, 22 June, 09:30–16:30, online

Bookings are now open for the June online event, which is a second chance to take part in the event.

NET pop up: NET x Human Learning Systems, June and July

Our first pop up event for 2022 will be about Human Learning Systems with Dr Toby Lowe and others. Human Learning Systems (HLS) is a radically new way of doing public management: the task of resourcing and organising public service. We’re still in the planning stages but so far it looks like a three connected events each with two or three week gap inbetween, around two hours, in the June and early July. We’ll open bookings soon.

These events will be for those of us feeling frustrated with how things with public service (in its broadest sense) work, and looking to do things differently. It will give you time and inspiration to rethink how we work.

The Human Learning Systems learning cycles toolkit will give you more on learning cycles and how to use them in your team and organisation. The first version of the toolkit will be ready soon so we’ll share more about it in the run up to the event. In the meantime, there’s more on learning cycles in the free e-book Human Learning Systems: Public service for the real world.

NET initiative update: North East Coaching Collective

North East Coaching Collective continues to offer coaching for social change in our region. We coaching collective coaches are renewing our membership for year 4 of the collective.

Coaching is a great tool to help you grow, learn more about yourself, work out what you want to do, help you solve problems and think through a tricky situation. It can also help you when you’re in a good place to plan your next steps, achieve a goal and become even better in your role.

In May, during International Coaching Week, we are hosting an event to celebrate and champion coaching where we’ll also launch a free coaching programme for small VCSE organisations and those working independently for social change. This builds on the success of Supporting our sector through COVID-19 coaching offer in summer 2020.

The North East Coaching Collective is a NET initiative supported by Yes We Can, a north east social enterprise developing social change leadership in the north east.

What else is going on?

Of course, there’s more going on than North East Together events, and think these are worth making time for…

That’s all for now…we’re looking forward to seeing you in a couple of weeks at Leading, together.
