Week 6 Recap:

Chicago Dutch Lions 0 vs 2 Green Bay Glory

In their second of three meeting and the second game of back to back matches between the sides, the Dutch Lions entered looking to make up for their 1–0 loss the previous week. The visitors opened with the first goal of the match when Carolina Martins Gomes scored in the 29th minute. After a corner was sent in a shot was clanked off the cross bar, in the ensuing scrum for the rebound Gomes sent the ball into the net.

Glory would extend the lead to two in the 52nd minute when a ball was sent skied from near the box to just behind it, where Elizabeth Behnke picked up the ball and sent a short pass to Skylar Prentice who hammered the goal in from outside the penalty arc.

St. Louis Lions 0 vs 5 Kaw Valley FC

Kaw Valley headed from eastern Kansas to western Missouri to face regional rival St. Louis Lions. The Cranes did not make things easy for the hosts as both Kate Dreyer and Raena Childers scored first half goals to put the visitors up 2–0 at the half-time mark.

Kate Gibson, Hailey Palmer, and Sydney Watts all added tallies to Kaw Valley’s score in the second half to drub the Lions on their own home pitch and earn a clean sheet.

Kalamazoo FC 2 vs 5 Midwest United FC

With a mid-week in state rivalry match taking place, Midwest United would look to take their second win over their western Michigan foe. MUFC scored thrice in the first half with Martha Corby grabbing the first two and Jennifer Blitchok scoring the third.

Corby scored her third goal of the match, securing herself a hat trick, in the second half. Kalamazoo’s Hannah Thompson score their first of the night and drop the difference back to three goals. The clubs once again traded goals with Elle Otto scoring for MUFC while Bailey Korhorn score KZOO’s second.

Indy Eleven 3 vs 0 Flint City AFC

Indy’s Madison Williams scored all three goals during the match for a hat trick in Eleven’s home win over Flint.

AFC Ann Arbor 2 vs 2 Racing Louisville FC

Racing Louisville’s USLW side travelled to Michigan for a clash with AFC Ann Arbor. Racing’s Sarah Hernandez got the opening goal of the match in the 41st minute. Just after the half-time break Luana Grabias leveled the match in the 46th minute with a shot directly through Louisville keeper’s Macy Enneking legs. Brooklyn Whitehead gave the hosts the lead in the 74th minute, but just before the final whistle Racing’s Emily Madril drew the match even with a sliding shot for a goal after a header into the box by Allison Schlegel.

Minnesota Aurora 3 vs 1 Chicago City SC

Bridgett McDowell covered the match in a special piece about Aurora’s first ever home win that you can check out here.

Minnesota Aurora 4 vs 0 Chicago City SC

After a day off Aurora and Chicago City came back out for a rematch at Eagan’s TCO Stadium. Aurora would take this match in even more dominant fashion than the clash on Friday. Morgan Stone, Sangmin Cha, Maya Hansen, and Shelby Hopeau all scored in Aurora’s clean sheet victory over CCSC.

AFC Ann Arbor 2 vs 3 Racing Louisville FC

Another Friday/Sunday series in USLW had Racing and AFC Ann Arbor once again face off for the second time in three days. This time Racing would score two second half goals to propel themselves over Ann Arbor and come back from a 2–1 half-time deficit.

Kings Hammer FC 1 vs 3 Kalamazoo FC

KZOO’s trip to the Cincinnati area went just about as well as could be hoped. After a scoreless first half both Bailey Korhorn and Grace Labadie scored for the visitors to put them up 2–0. KHFC’s Anne Greene cut the deficit to one in the 79th minute, however Korhorn sealed the game and secured herself a brace just two minutes later with another goal for the visitors.

Green Bay Glory 0 vs 2 Kaw Valley FC

After struggling to a 2–7–1 record with just 10 points last season in the WPSL, Green Bay’s move to the USL W League has paid off on the pitch. Unbeaten coming into their match with the Cranes, Glory looked to send Kaw Valley back to Kansas with no points.

After a scoreless first half, the match seemed to be either side’s to win. KVFC dashed those hopes in the second half with goals from Raena Childers and Hailey Palmer to send Green Bay home with their first loss in USLW.

St. Louis Lions 1 vs 6 Chicago Dutch Lions

On the road the Dutch Lions made mincemeat of the hosts with a five goal victory and four different players scoring. Katharine Stephens, Audrey Stephens, and Alexa Joshi all secured one goal each for the Dutch Lions while Piper Biziorek got herself a hat trick. Chloe Netzel scored St. Louis’s only goal.
