John Palmer Public School in the Ponds is the latest school celebrating the removal of demountable classrooms. The Government has promised permanent airconditioned classrooms that would replace 19 demountable.
The school’s populace had climbed within the last three years, and there are eight kindergarten classes — three more than this past year.
Riverstone state Liberal MP Kevin Conolly and Education Minister Rob Stokes visited the institution to announce the upgrade in February this year.
“This is very good news for local families,” Mr Conolly said.
“We are making certain we have the top-quality institution our students need now and into the future.”
Mr Stokes said the move would maximise playground space at the institution as a lot of space was taken up by the demountable.
The upgrade is a part of Government’s record $6 billion school building program, which include new schools at Marsden Park and Schofields.
However, the Ponds High School is just four years old and forecast to get 50 more demountable within the next three years.
