Smart Economy and its new Wiki
Explaining the definition of Smart Economy, and introducing its Wiki.
At nOS, we aim to build the fundamental platform that allows for mainstream adoption and development of Decentralized Applications (dApps) and the Smart Economy.
What is Smart Economy?
If you’re not familiar with the definition of Smart Economy, it’s a term which was originally introduced by the NEO blockchain:
Digital Assets + Digital Identity + Smart Contracts = Smart Economy
Being involved with the Smart Economy for a while now (NEO, City of Zion, VDT.Network, nOS), I quickly came to realize that Smart Economy entails one more unnamed factor:
Interoperability
The ability to utilize assets and functionalities from one project on another.
For example:
- The nOS dApp SmartT utilizes Master Contract Token for ticket payments.
- Voteo (also a nOS dApp) lets poll creators set a minimum requirement for tokens held in order to vote. For example, QLC Chain could create a poll or survey that is exclusive to people who hold at least 100 QLC Tokens.
In my personal view, the Smart Economy entails projects like these. Projects that work together, towards a new era of decentralized internet and finance.
So, Digital Assets, Digital Identity, Smart Contracts, and Interoperability is what truly makes the Smart Economy.
Clearing the fog
There are already many projects that adopt interoperability, but it’s difficult to to get a good idea about what the projects are, who works with who, how the tokens work, why one is built on NEO and the other on Ethereum, and so forth.
Another issue is with the understanding of technical updates.
For example, NEO has recently announced its plans for “NEO 3.0”, which people thought would take 1–2 years to release.
The cryptic announcement caused confusion within the NEO community.
I tackled this in my post on NEO’s subreddit:
A lot (if not most) of the planned changes will be for NEO 2 (with NEO 3 compatibility in mind).
The Reddit post served as a summary to help the community form a better understanding of the updates coming to one of the world’s largest smart contract platforms.
As with any technology in its beginning stages, it’s difficult to get a grasp of the full picture.
It’s time to introduce a sense of clarity and oversight in the Smart Economy, which is exactly what we aim to do with Smart Economy Wiki.
Introducing Smart Economy Wiki
Smart Economy Wiki (https://smarteconomy.wiki) is a community effort that aims to cover all topics surrounding the Smart Economy in an easy to understand manner.
Some key articles include:
- nOS
- Decentralized Applications
- NEP-5 Token Standard
- NEO Enhancement Proposal (NEP)
- Master Contract Token
- Da Hongfei
- Know Your Customer (KYC)
There are many more articles about various projects, websites, technologies, and people which are already available.
The wiki (SEWiki for short) is open to any community contributions.
Just create an account and you’re ready to write and contribute!
Everyone is invited to join and share their knowledge. You can even create a page about your own nOS dApp! Just keep things objective and informative.
If you need any help, feel free to reach out to the community on the nOS Discord.
