I never planned on betraying my grandmother. It definitely wasn’t deliberate, I think. Then again, most betrayal, I’d like to believe, is not a product of extensive foreplanning. If it were, I probably would have chosen a better day, or time, to do it. Not that there’s ever a good time to betray a woman who’s showered me with unconditional love for the past 28 years. If I had planned it better, or at all, I’m sure it wouldn’t have happened on the last day I’d have with her for six months, or in front of that many witnesses.
