When Gentleman became Robot

Director Shankar, people call him the James Cameroon of Indian Cinema. Though he often say the above statement “ If my first film had come out in the way i wanted it to, i wouldn’t have been given this tag”, this director is known for his high budget and technically oriented movies. But this man always conveys a social message through all films. This blog is about those messages, What he actually wanted to convey to the society but what did we learn instead. The man responsible for making many all time collection Grosser.

GENTLEMAN

This movie, first in the lot from Shankar was aimed at preaching everyone about the difficulties one faces during getting a seat in a medical college in spite of scoring state rank. It also enlightened the atrocities done by politicians in the field of education.The way a student becomes a Human bomb to attack the minister who was responsible for ruining many eligible candidates a seat shows the intensity of the pain it causes to every student who is denied a seat even after fulfilling all the eligibility criteria.

But what we learnt : How to loot a person by honing different make ups and how to impersonate someone. Many small time robbers resorted to looting big amounts only after getting inspired by the movie.

INDIAN

The movie expresses the feeling a freedom fighter gets when sees how the hard fought freedom is being misused by some important law makers and Administrators of the state. It also brought into light the White collar crime called Bribery. It enlightened the people about the various atrocities committed by government officials in the name of helping people. The consequences of clearing some official paper work in the favor of some person in spite of numerous irregularities in it.

The exact opposite is what we learnt from it. How to jump the queues by bribing the officials, how to obtain some license or permission even without fulfilling any of the criteria. How to obtain a Government job just by bribing an official who is in charge of it.

ANNIYAN

This film highlighted the importance of every citizens role in bringing in the country. The growth and progress of the country is not only in the hands of the politicians and government but in every citizen’s hand. A citizen’s role doesn’t end just by voting the eligible candidate which they fail to do often. The Social rights one has to follow everyday and the minimal social responses oh has. It has also made everyone accept and understand a greater fact that “Only when the punishments are made stricter and tougher, the crimes will come down”

How to impress a girl,how to improve our appearance with different styles of hair and dresses. How to be concerned about only us and not about the country. Keep on doing the crime even after knowing that is a fault is what we learnt from this Shankar’s Movie.

BOYS

Some people accuse this as one of the worst movies Shankar has ever done in his career. The way he narrated a good concept in a way which makes every makes give a thumbs down to the film. But the film highlighted the fact that education is not the only way to achieve success in life. It made everyone pursue whatever they urge for and highlighted that if they work hard on it,they will definitely achieve success. It made a point to prove everyone that “SECRET OF SUCCESS” can be achieved and learnt only by working hard.

Sitting in some small wall and drooling at the girls crossing by. This film inspired many youngsters in the most wrong way possible. Shankar showed everyone different ways of enjoying their days which they were not aware of till then. It inspired all in the wrong way, the scale of which even shankar would not have expected.

ROBOT

The move known for Rajinikanth — Aishwarya Rai Bachchan- A R Rahman — Shankar and for nothing else. He never wanted to convey any social message through his dream project. He being fed up his views taken in the wrong way stopped conveying messages and started earning money. The man changed into contemporary way of making films with a lot of commercial and masala elements and reducing the preaching ideologies. The movie made a huge success in Collection and Money front but not on the critics front. So he resorted to normal ways and became a common film director.
