I believe every Notion user can relatively easy create a valuable content.
With this series of articles, I intend to share some of the ideas for
Notion-related products anybody can build and monetize.

Proof of concept is all around us these days.
StartupGrowth Kit is an info-product built-in Notion that had a successful ProductHunt campaign last week. They finished in second place as the product of the day.

Other products quickly followed suit: NewsletterOS, NotionPack and others.

With this first idea, even youngsters with a bit of entrepreneurial spirit and some Notion experience have a chance of making at least some pocket-money.

Let’s dive straight into it.

So, the “Back to School startup-kit” is an info-product built specifically around practices and information related to the school the maker is attending. The kit should have monthly updates.

Content of the Kit

The kit should have at least the following functionalities:

  • Professors database — Getting to know professors, their basic characteristics, professional information, likes, and dislikes.
  • School database — School map, Classrooms, Transportation, Administration, Important phone numbers, school map.
  • Curriculum — Understanding the curriculum and important facts around specific learning standards, lessons, assignments, course notes, and other materials used for a particular course.
  • Weekly agenda — Standard weekly agenda to help with planning and organization
  • Extracurricular activities — List of activities, important information, professors leading, events, etc.

Value proposition

This kit will help new students to get familiar with the school, professors, curriculum, classes, and everything else. Additionally, with the agenda, they will have a tool to organize their activities better.

Kit Structure

I’m going to use just the basic Notion templates that are available for every user. So, no super-advanced knowledge is necessary.

Homepage

For the main page, we can use the standard Club Homepage template to setup basic navigation throughout the Kit. Links to all other sections will be here.

Professors database

For this database, we can use the Class directory template to give the perfect layout and organization for the intended purpose.

Class directory Template

For every professor, you can place photos and all the necessary information to help other students.

School database

I’d use the Club Homepage template again, as it would give us the option to add different data sets, like inline gallery, database with phones, and other types of information we have planned for this section.

Curriculum

I’d start with the standard database where all the courses are listed, and then, every course should have its page. For that, detailed page, I’d use the Classroom Home template

Weekly agenda

The standard weekly agenda layout from Notion.so is enough for basic functionality and organization standard for weekly agenda layouts.

Extracurricular activities

I’d perhaps go with the Content Calendar template, where the activities may be listed in categories and then detailed down on separate pages.

What’s next?

Once you have the whole system in place, you’d need to create a landing page (again, you can do that in Notion) and connect it with some paywall (like Gumroad) to manage payments. I’d write about that in other articles dedicated to landing pages and payment walls.

Ok, that was idea #1. It doesn’t look too complicated. At least it seems like that to me.
