Gambia Has a Freer Internet Than France and Everything Else You Should Know About Internet Freedom in the World Today
Are you ready?
I was looking to download Benedict XVI’s Introduction to Christianity when I was met with Belgium’s government censorship preventing me from accessing LibGen.
After a bit of search, I managed to go around it but this adventure (if we can call it such) led me to research Internet freedom.
I wanted to know if there was a directory of blocked websites per country or a database with the number of websites blocked per jurisdiction, or if any country currently offered unrestricted Internet access.
And the answer to all of those questions seems to be “no”.
Then I wanted to know if I could get an unrestricted Internet access in the middle of the ocean or Antarctica since I wouldn’t be under any jurisdiction, and I couldn’t find an answer to my question.
In any case, my investigation has taught me a lot of fun facts about Internet freedom today. Here they are.
