The 7–8th of December will enter the history books as the most important weekend of 2024.

• Trump was invited to the reopening of Notre Dame and met up with Zelenskiy and Macron.
• Trump called for a complete cease-fire in Ukraine.
• Bachar El Assad, former president of Syria who destroyed his country for 11 years to keep his power, left it within 48 hours after an armed rebellion that no one had heard of a week ago captured Syrian cities in record time and without fighting.
• Biden delivered new weapons and aid to Ukraine.

But given that these events concern the same actors, it’s unlikely that the fall of Assad had no links with Ukraine even though at first view, they seem completely unrelated.
