🗞️ News 1: Google’s Search On 2022 highlights: more visual results & short-videos
Source: Google | Keyword Blog
Google made multiple announcements at their Search On 2022 event about the direction that they’re taking towards displaying search results and the technology behind Search, Voice and lots of good announcements about artificial intelligence, about immersive experiences, about multidimensional search. These are the words that they used. Which are all important part of the future trends. And it’s important for us as nonprofits, churches and ministries to understand this direction that Google, the leader of search is taking. Because it’s not only impacts Google, it also impacts YouTube. Now, a couple of interesting things. You can check out the full article in the show notes, we will link to it multiple articles, but the key thing to note here is the visual display. So Google is going towards displaying more videos, more images. In fact, they are going to start displaying short videos about search results. For example, if you search about a city, you may start seeing TikTok videos and Instagram videos about that city. Interesting.
🗞️ News 2: Twitter launches new video products with full screen & discovery tools
Source: Twitter
Twitter announced last week that they are launching multiple video products or new video features inside Twitter app, including full screen mode and video discovery by swiping up. Next time, when you look at a video inside Twitter or in a tweet, all you have to do is tap it and the video will go full screen and wait for this. You can scroll up when you’re watching the full screen video. You can just keep scrolling up and you will see more videos come up. Now, does that sound familiar? Does that sound like TikTok? Does that sound like Instagram reels? Welcome to the new social media that is dominated by short form videos and Twitter is also now on the bandwagon. We will also link to the article so that you can look at the other video products that Twitter is talking about.
🗞️ News 3: Meta announces the date for Virtual 2022 Facebook Communities Summit
Source: Meta
Meta announced that October 20th will be the date for their online virtual Facebook Community Summit2022. The announcement says that Facebook Community Summit is back. Join us virtually to celebrate inspiring community builders here from Facebook Leaders and learn about a number of new products and features to help you build, grow and support your groups. I know many nonprofit, churches and ministries listening to me have Facebook Groups, very active ones, and you use that as a tool to build your online community. So this event could help you learn not just from Facebook and about the new features, etc. But also from the admins or Facebook Group building leaders who can share the best practices with you. So please pass this on. Share this information to your online communities ministry team.
🗞️ News 4: LinkedIn launches new advertising types & tools including Document Ads
Source: LinkedIn
LinkedIn announced that they are launching multiple new advertising tools, including a very interesting tool which I wanted to highlight called Document Ads. Documents, as you know, are a facility inside LinkedIn which allows you to upload a PDF. And this has been one of the top content types inside LinkedIn. It gets 3x more viewers than any other type of content according to a research. So now, LinkedIn allows you to promote that particular type of content, PDF document content. In fact, they give you an option to run a lead ad inside it. For example, if somebody looks at your ad and there is a document, you can collect basic information from them in a form, as a form of a lead before allowing them to download that document. That is quite useful when you consider advertising strategy. Sodo to take a look, pass this on to your Media Ministry team.
🗞️ News 5: [Web3] 2022 Digital Assets report released by U.S. FSOC Council Chair
Source: U.S. SEC Website
In our Web3 news this week, we look at a report filed by Financial Stability Oversight Council in the United States about the regulations required for digital assets. It is important for us as leaders to track regulatory movement, especially in markets like the US which lead the cryptocurrency space and theWeb3 space in general, including NFTs and DAO and all those metaverse and everything related to digital assets. So that’s why I find this report interesting. It’s 124 page report and it talks about digital assets. So even though the focus is on cryptocurrencies and stable coins and so on, it also has implications that could eventually go into regulating all the other elements of Web3. So I will link to the report in the show notes. Do take a look.
