Ekko — freeing your content from restrictions

Ekko is bridging the gap between Facebook Pages and traditional websites. Does the average small business or hobbyist need a website? Are websites on their way out?

We don’t think so!

It’s fair to say that the perception exists that if you don’t have a website then you’re not a legitimate outfit. So why are there so many out of date or poorly maintained websites?

Traditional Websites

For the traditional website owner, keeping a website looking fresh, with up to date content can be a chore. Maybe it’s having to contact the agency who the built site a year ago to change something really small like an office address. It could be logging in to a confusing CMS (content management system), using plugins or using a bloated site builder… the painful list goes on.

There’s always an alternative.

For the most part, website owners just accept that updating their website will be difficult and don’t think to look for an alternative…. because what if an alternative is more confusing than the system they already have?

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it…

…especially if it means switching web hosts”

On the flip side, there also appears to be many up to date Facebook Pages with either no corresponding website or worse, poorly maintained ones.

Facebook Pages

Many Facebook Page owners enjoy the ease of updating their Facebook Page and would like to have a website, but don’t want the hassle of having to maintain another avenue of reaching people. Facebook does that so readily, or does it…

It’s easy to overlook the experience non-Facebook users get when they visit your Facebook Page. Do they really want to create a Facebook account just to view your Page?

Even if you’ve got Facebook users viewing your Page, how long is it before they’re distracted by a personal notification. “John just liked your profile picture”.

So does Ekko strike a balance in the force we’ve been searching for?

The Dark side

When you visit Facebook Pages directly from a search engine and you’re logged out of Facebook, you get the following experience:

Limited for the non-Facebook user

So lets point you towards the light…

Melissa Keizer Photography

Melissa has a well maintained and vibrant Facebook Page, but if you’re not logged in, you can’t see all of her content.

When you visit Melissa’s Ekko website, you can see all her latest posts of those super cute pups without any restrictions.

Girl With A Camera

Ashley, also a photographer, keeps her Facebook Page up to date with images from her most recent shoots. Again the quality of her work isn’t easy to see when you’re logged out of Facebook.

Ashley has chosen to use Ekko’s “Junipero” theme, which keeps the emphasis on her bio, social links and that beautiful bridal cover photo.
