Introducing the all-new Noteshelf 3
We started coding Noteshelf at the very iconic moment when Steve Jobs announced the first iPad in 2010. Since then, we’ve made 100s of releases with 3 major product redesigns making it the preferred note-taking app for millions across the globe.
We have distilled all the insights we have gained over many years and redesigned Noteshelf from the ground up, yet again. We’ve been working on this for over a year now and are super excited to present to you the Noteshelf 3 — a major leap in letting you take beautiful notes effortlessly!

Made with EVERYONE in mind

Over the years, we’ve come to learn and appreciate that no two people take notes the same way. Noteshelf 3 offers many customization features that let you configure the app exactly the way you need. So, you are in charge!
You decide what’s on your toolbar
In Noteshelf 3, the toolbar is completely customizable. You can decide precisely what tools you want on your toolbar and remove the ones you don’t use. Having single-tap access to the tools you use often will greatly simplify your workflow and let you focus on what matters most — well, your notes!
A template for every need
Many of our users love Noteshelf for the wide variety of templates we offer. We have even curated a long list of user requests for new templates. Considering all this feedback and adding a few of our own ideas, Noteshelf 3 includes a gallery of 100s of templates to meet all your note-taking needs. You will find many templates ranging from simple grids to configurable multi-page diaries and journals. Our new template gallery experience lets you browse through different templates and preview them in fullscreen before you use them in your own notebooks.
Covers to personalize your notebooks
Note-taking is a very personal thing, and Noteshelf has always been big at providing many packs of covers to personalize your beloved notebooks. Noteshelf 3 is no different, but we have taken a fresh approach to our cover designs this time and believe you are gonna love them.
Our brand-new custom cover experience lets you create beautiful covers effortlessly from the vast Unsplash photo gallery. You can even write or doodle on your notebook covers to give them an extra touch of personality, so have fun!
Distraction-free all the way
Note-taking apps have so many tools to meet the very diverse needs of their users. Some apps even have 2 or 3 toolbars stacked over one another to accommodate all of them. Yet most people only use a handful of those tools on a daily basis.
Now that we have a customizable toolbar where you can pick the tools you use often, we want to do things differently. We made the toolbar even smaller and floating, enabling you to see more of your content and less of the UI.
To take it even further, we’ve introduced a FOCUS mode where all the tools will be removed from the screen with a quick 4-finger tap gesture. Enjoy an edge-to-edge note-taking experience where the paper fills the entire screen. Absolutely no distractions and more space for your notes!
Better notes with Noteshelf AI
We recognize the immense potential AI holds and have incorporated it into Noteshelf 3 to assist our users in their note-taking.
With Noteshelf AI, we introduce a way for you to generate beautiful handwritten notes on any topic. Noteshelf AI can also help you understand complex concepts easily, summarize handwritten content, and even translate your notes into any language.
It’s just like your personal note-taking assistant, right inside the app!
Everything that matters — at your fingertips
We have always given a lot of importance to note organization and search in Noteshelf. Bookmarks, tags, groups, and sub-groups are the classic ways in which Noteshelfers stay organized. Our global search will look through everything, including your own handwriting, in 60 different languages. Noteshelf 3 takes this legacy even further.
A brand new way to find your notes
With Noteshelf 3, we have further elevated your ability to quickly look up notes with what we call Content Views. Content Views are like folders on your shelf that automatically populate with your photos, recordings, and bookmarks from all your notebooks providing a new way to quickly find what you are looking for. Ever wanted to find a photo you had added to your notes a while back and were not sure in which notebook? Content Views are where you can quickly find it.
A Home for all your notes
We’ve created a brand new Home section where you can access all your notes in one place; handy if you generally work on a handful of notebooks at any given time. The home also features a tips & tricks section to help you make the most out of Noteshelf 3. There is also a section showcasing beautiful notes taken in Noteshelf to give you some inspiration. These are live sections that will be updated on a regular basis, so stay tuned!
Switch colors with ease
Our users change pen colors roughly 5 million times each day. With this in mind, we’ve made the pen colors and sizes readily accessible with a single tap on a mini toolbar — no more going through menus for this.
