2021 was a very eventful year for us all at Noteshelf. So to keep the ball rolling, we decided to usher Noteshelf iOS into 2022 with a brand new set of features and updates.

So without any further ado, let’s dive into v8.6

Revamped Add Menu

The Quick Note tile is now the Add Menu for easier access. Tap once on the plus icon to open the contextual menu. From here, you can create a quick note, a new notebook, an audio note, import a new document/photo or scan a document.

If you tap twice on the plus icon, it will automatically create a quick notebook for your sudden brainstorming sessions. You can also choose to rename and save or delete the quick note while leaving the notebook.

Note: A quick note will auto-delete if it is empty.

Read-Only Mode

One of the most demanded requests from our users was the hideable toolbar to glide through their notes without any distraction. Well, we’ve heard you. You can now tap the screen to hide the toolbar completely when in read-only mode. You can also use this mode to present your notes.

Hold pen to convert to shape

Yes, you’ve got that right! You can now draw on your note with the pen and hold the pen to convert it into a shape. Isn’t that convenient? While we still have the Shapes Tool (read below to see what’s new with that), creating quick shapes without having to change the tool is always better. To enable this feature, all you gotta do is tap twice on the pen tool, enable the “Hold to Convert to Shape” toggle, and voila!

Draw straight lines with a highlighter

Since PDF markup and annotation is one of our biggest use-cases, we’ve decided to make annotating your documents much simpler. Just enable the “Draw Straight Lines” toggle under the highlighter menu to automatically highlight your notes with a much cleaner look. Now that’s efficient note-taking.

Shapes menu

The Shapes Menu is now a powerful tool for those who want to create full-fledged graphs, tables, and much more. You can change the color and nib size of the pen while in the shapes mode and draw shapes effortlessly.

UI Enhancements

Apart from all these new features, we’ve made significant changes to the shelf and the sidebar. The menus and panels have also been enhanced in tune with the latest iOS 15 update. The icons in the app are now thinner and sharper. Not only that, the user interface is now much more comprehensive. We’ll soon release a walkthrough video for you to understand all these changes in detail.

Let’s familiarise you with the new icons in the app:

So let us know how you feel about the new features and the UI changes made in the app. We’d be happy to hear your feedback.
