Miami in early December is one of the most wonderful places to be. The weather is warm and sunny, slightly humid but still welcoming. Art Basel Miami was in full swing and I couldn’t be happier to be with my fellow art lover gal pals.

First stop, after scarfing down some delicious cuban food at Versailles was to Miami Art Project.

In it’s fifth year the Miami Art Project is a must see. I was immediately pulled in by the fresh, fun and modest space. The first work to catch my eye was two wonderful paintings by San Francisco based artist, Jeffrey Cheung titled “Paris” and “Falling”. Mr. Cheung’s paintings were bold and vibrant. The nude male figures depicted are grand in size and the context playfully sexual without being overly offensive. Mr. Cheung’s work is reminiscent of Alex Katz. The similar application of paint with only necessary minimal details on the subjects.

These paintings for myself set the tone for Miami Art Week and all the creative projects to come!
