“Everyone Has a Story”

The best writing advice I ever received. And it still works!

It was high school journalism class.

A staff of a dozen of us or so were working on the next issue of the monthly high school newspaper. We were all struggling with the same problem.

We couldn’t figure out what to write next.

Our journalism teacher then gave us the greatest writing advice I have ever received to this day. He said:

“Everyone has a story.”

Here are my thoughts on this:

Everybody in the world comes from somewhere. They have all been on the journey of life.

They have all been there, done that, and received the souvenir. It’s natural.

We have all experienced the world and our lives on our own. We have a unique story no one else has.

Bingo.

Everyone has a story.
