My Campus: 2-Time UIUC Alumni
As many of you know, or soon will find out, I am a two-time alumni of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. I enjoyed my college years and reflect on them often.
Here are some of those stories:
My first memories of campus
I’ll have to confirm with the date on the ticket stub, but my first memory of campus was attending an Illini football game with my dad. We sat way up in the upper deck on the visitor’s side. I struggled with my dizziness but something about being there felt right. I remember seeing the Marching Illini perform in various formations and the team running out of the tunnel in a cloud of smoke with sirens blaring. Even as a student, those were still some of my favorite moments on campus.
Where I was when I got great news
I was sitting in a comfy lounge chair with my legs out on the ottoman in the ACES (Funk) Library, working on a presentation about the Gettysburg Address for my presidential history class. An email appeared out of the blue on my laptop informing me I would be a Noontime Performer playing acoustic guitar at the Student Union for the rest of the Spring 2019 semester. And I received an A on the presentation the following week.
Win-win.
