On December 12, we will be introducing our second big update on NovaX. With this update, we are introducing the PvP system where players can attack other planets with their troops.

We did talk about the main mechanics & concepts of the PvP system in previous articles. We suggest you read it first if you haven’t already.

Let’s dive into the gameplay changes.

New Building called “Warzone” will be introduced.

Users who seek to participate in PvP must build a warzone to at least one of his/her planets.

Once you build a warzone to a planet, that planet becomes “attackable”. So if you don’t build a warzone to your planet, other players won’t be able to attack your planet.

Once you build a warzone on your planet, you will be able to place your troop items on your planet’s warzone to defend your planet against attackers.

Defense

On your planet detail page, there will be a new section called Warzone. You can track the troops you place on your planet, and place additional/new troops to defend your planet.

Resource needed to place 1 Attack Power on your defense is:
100 XSLR, 200 XMTL, 10 XCRS.

For example:
If you want to place 1000 attack power worth troops in your defense, you will need to deposit
10,000 XSLR 20,000 XMTL, 1,000 XCRS to your warzone.

Attack

If you want to attack another planet, let’s say with 10 troop items with 1000 attack power in total; then you need at least 1000 attack power to be placed on your planets’ defenses (warzones).

So basically you need to place at least the same amount of troops on your planets’ defenses as your attack forces. You can’t place 100 Attack power as defense and attack with 10,000 Attack power to enemies.

You can explore the other planets that have warzones built and track their total defense attack powers and resources on them.

Once you choose a planet to attack you will be directed to the attack screen. You can choose from your available troops and create a force to attack the enemy planet.

You will not be spending any resources in the attack process. But you are risking losing the troops that you selected. But in return, you are earning resource tokens from the enemy.

In addition to enemy resources, the system also gives extra resource tokens to the winner. If the winner is the defender, resources are added to the warzone; if the winner is the attacker resources are added to the winner’s wallet.

Battle Mechanics & Economics

Let’s talk with an example.

The attacker (you) has 1000 Attack power.

The defender (enemy) has 20000 Attack power and “2,000,000 XSLR, 4,000,000 XMTL, 200,000 XCRS)”

Since the enemy has a higher attack power, you will lose the battle. Battle works like this:

First, the attacker destroys 1000 attack power from the enemy defense. So the enemy has 19,000 attack power lefts. (1000 destroyed)

Then enemy defense attacks you back, and since it has 19,000 attack power, he can destroy all your troops, but once your 50% of troops are left, your troops start to retreat. So you lose half of your troops, but the ones that return gather/steal resources from the enemy.

The amount of resources gained from the enemy is calculated as
( destroyed attack power percentage X enemy resources)
So since you destroyed 1000/20000 = 5% of the enemy defense, you steal 5% of the enemy resources which is 100,000 XSLR, 200,000 XMTL, 10,000 XCRS.

So on your side, you lost 500 Attack power-worth troops but earned 100,000 XSLR, 200,000 XMTL, 10,000 XCRS in return.

In addition to this, the system gives the same amount of resource prize to the winner.

Since in this case prize is “100,000 XSLR, 200,000 XMTL, 10,000 XCRS”.
And the winner is the enemy.

System adds “100,000 XSLR, 200,000 XMTL, 10,000 XCRS” to the enemy warzone.

So now that enemy has covered its resource losses, but not the troops. It has a larger portion of resources compared to its attack power.

Before the fight:
The defender (enemy) has 20000 Attack power and “2,000,000 XSLR, 4,000,000 XMTL, 200,000 XCRS)”

After the fight:
The defender (enemy) has 19000 Attack power and “2,000,000 XSLR, 4,000,000 XMTL, 200,000 XCRS)”

So it became more desirable to attack that planet. Because if this time again you attack with 1,000 attack power, you will earn a higher resource amount.

Result

We designed the system like this to give motivation to
1) Small attack power players to attack strongest players
2) System covers the winners' losses, so that players won’t afraid to place a large number of troops on their planets
3) We designed the warzone to be optional, so players that don’t want to PvP won't need to build the warzone. Or even if they build it, they can decide not to place/risk any resources&troops to their planet's defenses.
4)Players will need to risk resources&troops on their defense if they want to attack enemies. So it is a two-way system. If you want to attack other players, you will need to risk losing on your troops&resources on defense.
