10,000 pushups ? A challenge to accept!

In the moments of your crucial task of workplace, study or whatever which keeps you busy and engaged, you are very much aware of your time. Where you are spending your time? Asking this question when you are utilizing your time for good is nice thing, but what about those lousy days when you don’t even know where your time is going?

Your time is the most precious thing you possess, you have a limited amount of it and you’ll never going to get it once it has spent. You must be aware of your time, and where you are spending it.

I once studied from our ancient scriptures that doing one thing daily as a hobby or a discipline, or something as simple as watering your plants before having meals, can tremendously increase your awareness about where your time is going. It will help you to become more effective in other areas of your life too! The one and only condition to full fill is that you have to be consistent and try to do that thing at a specific time of the day. I have decided to implement in my life and started to look for that one thing.

For me it’s doing pushups!

In the beginning of the year 2023, I made a new year resolution that I’ll do 10,000 Pushups this year.

Ten thousand push ups in one year sounds quite easy target to achieve? For someone who is a fitness enthusiast or having an athletic physique it may be an easy target but for someone who doesn’t even played any team sports in high-school, who avoid stairs and prefer elevators every time who doesn’t have much muscle mass to keep up to his peer group its quite difficult task.

Why only pushups why not something else?

Doing pushups daily is one of the simplest way to keep your body in shape without bothering about any fitness routine and without worrying too much about your diet. Pushup is one of the easiest exercise to keep your body in shape and make your a bit more healthier than before.

Calisthenics

According to Wikipedia; Calisthenics is a form of strength training consisting of a variety of movements that exercise large muscle groups (gross motor movements), such as standing, grasping, pushing, etc. These exercises are often performed rhythmically and with minimal or no equipment, as bodyweight exercises.

Calisthenics is one of the most effective genre of workouts, it always fascinated me during my teenage, fitness freaks who choose calisthenics as their core fitness routine, made most attractive physique and of course calisthenics helps you to create an ideal balance between a muscular, cardiovascular fitness and neuro-coordinative abilities. In easy words calisthenics is something which can prepare you for a 100 pushup challenge and 600 mt. run at the same time.

In calisthenics, pushup is its core exercise, even the warm up sessions before any calisthenic workout involves pushups.

That's why I picked pushups over other exercise, and having a numerical milestone to achieve will automatically push you too get out of your comfort zone.

Doing pushups has an extra benefit that, you aren’t afraid of getting injured from heavy weights of gym and at the same time its a fun thing to do.

Until now I have completed 5400 Pushups and doing more reps on each sets have became more easy and fun. I’m witnessing the change in my body posture as well as in my physique too! It’s quite motivating that an year before doing 20 pushups was near to impossible for me and now I can do 100 pushups in one session. For some people 100 pushups can be a warm up but for me its an exercise session itself.

I have witnessed a tremendous increase in my confidence and will power in other aspects of life too, and having pleasure of being in a good shape is going nowhere.
