Communication is an essential method of sharing your feelings, ideas, and emotions; it is the way by which humans can create relationships with intimate emotional connection. Some are good at communication while some find it difficult to express their feelings and ideas.

Especially when you are talking with a stranger, melting that hard ice and being able to resonate with other people is quite difficult. People with extroverted personality types also find it challenging to mix up with new companions and for introverts it’s a nightmare.

“Conversation is an art which puts the other person in the spotlight”. -Anonymous

To help you assist with that here I’m sharing twenty questions to help you break the communication barrier. You can use it to interact with new friends or to deepen the relationship with your current friends.

  1. How do you spend most of your time?
  2. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
  3. How will your dream house look?
  4. What are your favorite sports?
  5. If you could suggest one book to the person, would you care what it would be?
  6. Are you a tea person or a coffee person?
  7. Which fictional story you like to be a part of?
  8. What do you like the most about your hometown?
  9. Are you a cat person or a dog person?
  10. If you could live anywhere in the world what place it would be?
  11. If you could choose two famous personalities to have dinner with you who would you choose?
  12. In what skill do you consider yourself an expert?
  13. Would you rather live in the mountains or in cities?
  14. Describe the best person you’ve had so far!
  15. If you could have any animal as a pet, what would you choose?
  16. What is your favorite food?
  17. What work you can do even if you don’t get paid?
  18. Are you an Earlybird or a night owl?
  19. Who is your favorite actor or actress?
  20. Who is the one you admire most in your life?

These questions may not be directly related to your purpose of communication but they’ll break the ice between you and will help you to become more free and vulnerable in terms of sharing ideas and feelings.

Many times we keep our ideas, opinions, and feelings to ourselves because we are unable to share them freely with the level of connection we have. To overcome such situations one can use these questions to become more expressive and overt in a relationship.
