At the Echelon Asia Summit 2019 held in Singapore last week, the Novum Global team first launched the Novum Global Accelerator Programme to over 15,000 attendees at the event. Recently partnered with JustCo Labs on this programme, Novum Global is looking to aid the many innovative startups in the blockchain sphere in terms of funding, marketing, business strategy and more.

At the same time, we also introduced Concordia Ventures, a crowdfunding platform which promises investors and users around-the-clock, access on the go in browsing and participating in verified ICO projects listed on the platform. The Novum Global team was privileged to meet with so many attendees at the event last week — founders and businesses present at the event with booths of their own, students, individuals who were interested in blockchain and also, potential partners who are interested in the programme!

The Novum Team at Echelon Asia Summit 2019, held in Singapore

Over the course of the two-day event, we saw visitors at the booth from both blockchain related and non-blockchain related fields — in particular, the team noted that most visitors at the booth had basic knowledge of what blockchain was and were interested in learning more about it despite having little to no contact with the technology. This indicates a favourable shift in perception towards blockchain and cryptocurrencies. With the increased interest from attendees of the event at the Novum Global booth, we are surely moving a step closer to possible mass adoption of blockchain technology globally.

Some of the common questions the Novum team were asked were:

What exactly is blockchain?

Essentially, it is a decentralised network where data is stored. Think of blockchain as a spreadsheet that records transaction data, except that the information entered on the sheet is transparent and cannot be changed, and more importantly, the sheet is not owned by any single entity or individual. The sheet is instead stored and managed by a group of computers and relies on verification of each transaction by the individuals involved. This system and blockchain’s underlying principles ensure that it’s secure, transparent and private.

How can blockchain technology be used in our everyday lives?

Blockchain can be and have been applied to many different industries and processes. It has the potential to revolutionise traditional processes such as data production, dissemination and aggregation, payments and transactions, and more — the possibilities are endless. It can be used to secure data in a cost-efficient manner. Similarly, it is getting easier to withdraw, convert and use cryptocurrency at physical stores. There is an increasing number of the public that see cryptocurrency as a viable payment option for everyday purchases.

What projects has Novum Global done?

We have taken on a total of 17 projects as of this year under Novum Capital, six of which have been successfully completed. Among our completed projects are Consentium and also W Green Pay, an ICO project supported by Korean celebrities that helps facilitate social carbon credit trading in Korea. Have a closer look at our completed projects here.

What are the benefits of joining Novum Global’s Accelerator Programme?

Novum Global’s Accelerator Programme is a 12-week intensive coaching programme. We are incredibly focused on product — ensuring that acceleratees have a minimum viable product (MVP) at the end of the three month period. With the accelerator programme, startups will be able to see their blockchain concept and idea come to life and leave the programme with a tangible product to further their pitches to potential investors.

In its new collaborative partnership with JustCo Lab, Novum Global will also offer 3 months free co-working space in JustCo’s office. Moreover, the Novum team will be hosting monthly curated sharing sessions and events, featuring industry professionals and members of the crypto community in Singapore. Acceleratees will be able to enjoy JustCo facilities for the duration of the programme.
