I heard this song on a pre-flight boarding playlist on my recent IcelandAir flight. Kaleo is an indie band from Iceland that has hints of Andrew Belle and Ray LaMontagne. Soulful and well rounded. You can find this song and other good Icelandic music you haven’t heard of on the Hot Springs CDs.

If you pressed me to pick the best song ever, I might pick this one. After all, if Coldplay has collaborated on a cover, that’s a good sign. But if you are in the know, you know the real reason this is the most epic song ever. And that reason is the looting scene from Hot Rod.

Burn

Madi Diaz was another Tennessee / Nashville based artist while I was in college and I saw her a few times, but lately I’ve rediscovered her albums, which have been on repeat during late nights. She walks the tightrope of singer/songwriter and pop pretty well. “Burn” is probably my favorite off of her album “We Threw Our Hearts in the Fire”.

Tennessee

There’s a lot to like about Tennessee, something I know first hand after living there for four years. Drew Holcomb agrees (he and his wife and his band are one of those things to like about Tennessee). This might be as enjoyable to you if you aren’t from Tennessee and you probably have already heard it if you do live there, but the fall weather makes me miss college and Union and TN so it’s been on my heavy rotation this month. As he sings — it’s not just geography.
