HalfStack Online Chat with Now4real

In preparing for HalfStack Online, we’ve been experimenting with the Now4real beta for a few months.

Now4real provides a simple, intuitive real-time chat widget for websites. It solves a few problems we’ve all experienced with other chat experiences on the web, namely:

• Chat is typically a spammers haven. Now4real’s chat is ephemeral, so there’s little benefit in posting spam as it will vanish quickly.
• Site chat often includes stale information instead of live discussions. Now4real changes that.
• Analytics often compromise privacy. Now4real tells both the public and site owners how many people are looking at a website and what country they’re likely from, but nothing more, providing useful data while keeping people’s information private.

For HalfStack Online on the 22nd of May, in addition to any chat within the conference application, we also encourage chat to occur on the website in the context of particular pages of the website. We’re curious to see how you find the experience, as a new way to form instant connections and communities in real-time.
