I Am ≠ I Am Me (Not Always)

Reassessing myself as of now

Hellebore (aka Christmas Rose, Winter Rose, etc) | Photo by the author

Friday morning gift
Basking in the Sun’s warm rays
My soul thaws off frost

This perpetual ice
Coating my aging surface
Am I frost itself?

Never has the sun
Thus far melted away ice
Left solid inside

Today though perchance
My inner fire kindles
Hotter than normal

Yet is it “normal”
When cold lethargy freezes
That hearth I call love?

Extinguishing joy
Was my definition of
Me. Self-limiting.

Then just who am I
Another identity
Switching day by day?

Nay, I am not me
Me is just an illusion
I’m never the same

With changing seasons,
Tides, skies, and circumstances
I am always new

All cells live, then die
Regenerate as new cells
Diff’rent from the old

All that matters now
Is what I do, think, and feel
Just at this moment

I am just “being”
And I connect with others
Not as me but I.

Cuz that’s all I am
Cuz that’s all I can offer
Just I in the now.

Thank you! Now I’d love to read your feedback!
I write for connections! (^-^)/\(^-^)
