npm weekly #109: we chat with Clue, version 5.4.0 is out now, plus we’re still hiring!

Catching up with Clue
In our continuing series of Customer Convos, we chatted with npm customer Jan Klausa from the popular period tracking app Clue.

Clue is a game-changing health tracking app that allows menstruators to track not only their cycle and fertility, but also other areas like mood, pain, digestion, sleep, and more.
The folks at Clue use npm private packages to share the proprietary JavaScript logic powering their two mobile platforms on iOS and Android. Learn more about Clue and how your team can benefit from using private packages or npm Enterprise by reading the blog!
Do you blog about JavaScript?
Do you write the words good? Do you like baby wombats? Well!

npm’s marketing team needs your copywriting help to explain how npm works and show off the amazing things our community builds. This role is distinct from our recent listing for a technical writer, and it isn’t to replace your Weekly editor [who is awesome — Ed.].

Help us make npm@5 even faster
If you’re loving npm@5 and want to lend a hand in making it even better, Kat Marchán recently pointed out an opportunity to help. Pacote, a Node.js library for downloading npm-compatible packages, is currently the best area to contribute. Check out the open issues in Pacote’s repo to see where you can help!
At BrazilJS Conf? So are we!

npm human Jeff Lembeck has made the journey all the way to Porto Alegre, Brazil to speak at this year’s BrazilJS Conf. If you’re there be sure to say hi! If you’re not, no worries — we’ll be sharing the video of his talk here soon, so stay turned!
The latest release: npm v5.4.0
Earlier this week, the npm CLI team released version 5.4.0, the highlights of which include updating to tar@4, giving fstream the boot (boy bye!), and very cool typo support for commands. Hands down the coolest thing about v5.4.0 is that it set a new record for contributors at 27, beating the past record of 21 contributors for v5.1.0. Great work everyone!
Get your Support app in by Friday
We’re hiring a full-time Support Tech to join npm’s team and help the millions of developers who contribute to the npm ecosystem everyday. If you’re able to solve technical problems with empathy, then you might be exactly the person we’re looking for.
Check out the job listing for the full detailsand get your information to us by tomorrow, Friday, August 25.
Hey TypeScript and JSX fans
Earlier this week, your fave Benjamin Coe released a little scoped package you’re going to want to check out. Introducing test-typescript-jsx, which allows you to finally support highlighting syntax for TypeScript and JSX in your READMEs. Enjoy!
What we’re watching: Blank, Better T-Shirts for Women and Men by Cotton Bureau

So we don’t usually share Kickstarter campaigns, but this is one we can definitely get behind. Cotton Bureau is funding/has successfully funded Blank, a brand of size-inclusive, made-in-the-USA, better-fitting, premium t-shirts for people of every gender.
Because duh, t-shirts should fit, especially ones as cool as these.
North American pals — give your eclipse glasses a second chance!

If you were fortunate enough to witness this week’s solar eclipse and picked up some eclipse glasses, don’t just toss them out. Astronomers Without Borders is collecting used glasses to be sent to schools in South America and Asia when eclipses cross those continents in 2019. Find out how to donate your pair(s).
