Improve our docs, get some socks

As the old saying goes, “Submit a patch, receive a patch … of fashionable 80% cotton / 16% nylon fabric sewn in the shape of a sock.”

You too could be rolling in the npm socks like our friend and sock model Gabriel Danger, pictured above. Help us fix a bug or improve our documentation and we’ll send you a pair of the finest in npm swag!

Global Diversity CFP Day is this Saturday

2018 is a great year to start speaking at conferences. If you’ve been wanting to give it a try, this Saturday, February 3 is Global Diversity CFP Day. Folks around the world will be coming together to encourage each other through the speaking process. Find an event near you!

What we’re reading: Reduce, Reuse, React

We enjoyed this post from JavaScript January on recycling code. In Reduce, Reuse, React, author Donavon West describes how a function you created in the past can be reused in a project you are currently working on. With the help of some familiar tools, he guides the reader through how a simple function could make a great published package.

Welcome Lorin, Tom, and Terri!

Please join us in welcoming more awesome new people to the npm team!

Lorin Bond joins the team as npm’s very first project manager! Originally from the Bay Area, she earned an MBA at Boston University and then made the return trek home. Lorin and her family are huge Golden State Warriors fans and pride themselves on being the loudest fans ever.

Terri Koster has been a digital marketing leader for most of her career. She joins the team as npm’s marketing manager, working remotely from Omaha, Nebraska. In her spare time, you can find Terri supporting local non-profit schools and homeless organizations and rooting for Nebraska football (#GBR).

Tom Miller will be helping to sell npm products to developers and their employers. He grew up in the Bay Area and is a graduate of UC Berkeley. He began his sales career selling pool cues out of the back of his car but quickly moved up to selling development tools and databases. He likes to run, ski, and cook vegan food.

Welcome everyone!
