Revealing how we re-invented npmjs.com

Last week, we announced the release of the newest version of npmjs.com. Like any cool new release, there has to be a version with behind the scenes commentary.

Katie Fenn takes you on a tour of how we rebuilt the npm site in this wonderful post, Re-inventing npmjs.com. It captures the history, design decisions, technologies powering your new favorite features, and everything else.

Head over to the npm blog to check it out, and enjoy exploring the new npmjs.com!

npm heads to camp, Angular style

Kat Marchán will be speaking at Angular Camp 2018 in Barcelona, Spain later this summer. Tickets are still available if you want to explore Barcelona and maybe learn something at one of the workshops.

Another first publish!

Congrats to John Barker for recently publishing his first npm package! John created `wirecast-applescript`, a module that — you guessed it — will allow you to talk to Wirecast on macOS through AppleScript. Great work, John!

What we’re reading: AWS Lambda support for Node.js 8.10 is here

David Wells breaks down the perks of having Node.js version 8 support for AWS Lambda in this article from earlier this week. He cites the increased speed, the ability to use Async/Await over Promises, and being able to use npx with npm v5.2. There’s more, so check it out, but mostly we just want to say serverless FTW!

Chatting it up with SendBird

This week we continue our Customer Convos, a series where we chat with npm users about what they’re building with npm. Our latest convo features James Kim from SendBird.

SendBird provides a messaging SDK and chat API for mobile apps and websites, and they use npm to share their JavaScript SDK with developers around the globe. Read the full interview to learn more about how SendBird uses npm.

Coming soon: JS Interactive

The Node.js Foundation and JS Foundation are teaming up to bring you JS Interactive, a conference dedicated to the open source communities supporting the JavaScript ecosystem and end users. It’s a great opportunity to network, share your skills, and build a better understanding of what tools are out there and the best practices around them.

Do you have a presentation, panel idea or workshop that you’d like to suggest? Submit your idea by April 20.

Hello, from the other side

We want to hear about everything you or your team has been building with npm. We’ll help promote it far and wide! Let’s partner up to show off what you’ve built.

Reach out and we’ll chat.

If March was National Patience Month, then what is April?

We love seeing how (and where!) folks use npm around the globe, but the juxtaposition of this tweet from Gaeel Bradshaw made us chuckle. Where do you use npm?
