npm is joining GitHub!

We are excited to share the news that npm will be joining GitHub!

This is great news for all npm users: Our commitment to keeping the npm Registry free for open source development will continue with no change. We are looking forward to being part of GitHub, a company as committed to open source and the long-term success of the JavaScript community as we are.

Whether you use the Registry for free, or with one of our premium products, today’s announcement does not change anything in your day-to-day work.

For more details on the next chapter for npm, check out Isaac’s blog post. And if you have immediate questions, please reach out.

Thank you to JonQ for this amazing sketch, and for all of the amazing wombat designs along the way! ❤️

Open RFC Meetings

In response to community requests, we’re now hosting weekly meetings, with Open RFC calls and “deep-dive” calls alternating on a bi-weekly basis. Our deep-dive calls will take on one RFC, PR, issue or overall topic of discussion (tbd at the preceding Open RFC call) to allow for more in-depth conversations to happen.

Join us for next week’s deep-dive call on Wednesday, March 25 at 11am PT/2pm ET! Meeting details will be available here shortly.

Miss last week’s deep-dive chat on Workspaces? You can review the notes and recording here. You can also access the notes on our past Open RFC calls (including this week’s) here.

npm for solo devs & teams

Meet npm Pro and npm Teams, our solutions that empower developers to utilize private packages and collaborate, either working with contributors on Open Source projects (Pro), or working as a team on mission-critical applications (Teams). You can learn more about our suite of solutions here.
