slow-deps shows your project’s slowest installs

Last week Nolan Lawson created slow-deps, a package which allows you to measure which dependencies in a project are slowest to npm install. This package also tells you the size on disk and the total number of transitive dependencies being printed.

The end goal here is to show you the potential number of unnecessary dependencies your project is leaning on, and assist with removing some of the bloat. Great work Nolan (and project muse Michael Hart)!

npm goes to Node Interactive EU

Next month, npm humans Kat MarchĂĄn and Aria Stewart will present at the Node.js Foundation event Node Interactive EU, taking place in Amsterdam.

poopthis is just for fun

npm hits two million versions! 🎉

Earlier this week Tonic released their discovery that npm has passed two million versions. This is to say, if you added up every version of every package in the npm registry, you would count to two million. They found this while examining their scoped package support.

Read the full post for an awesome breakdown of which specific packages, and versions, hit the mile-markers leading up to the 2,000,000th.
