Key Takeaways:

Hello Nswappers,

We hope you all had great days at NFT.NYC 2022. If you were not at the scene of the event, then you must be wondering:

What’s going on over there at the NFT.NYC 2022? What interesting highlights happened? NFT.NYC is over but what have we learned? Is the future going to be better after the big events?

Well, let’s get into it.

What is NFT.NYC?

NFT.NYC has been dubbed the Super Bowl of NFTs. Holding true to this honorific, NFT.NYC is the largest and most respected NFT conference in the world.

Celebrating its fourth year, the 2022 conference returned its fourth time to Times Square on June 20–23 gathering over 1,500 speakers including Gary Vaynerchuk, Jodee Rich and Avery Akkineni, and William Quigley and 15,000 fans, influencers, and developers of NFTs.

It’s Not a Bear Market, It’s a Builder’s Market

As a one of the NFT.NYC 2022 sponsors, Nswap along with other sponsors including OpenSea, Coinbase NFT, Flow, Arbitrum, Consensys, Ledger, Metamask, Rarible attended NFT.NYC 2022.

At the amazing conference, we interviewed lots of individual members of some famous communities.

When we look back at some notable interviews we have rocked the NFT.NYC 2022. When we asked interviewees what their feelings were about NFTs in such a bear market.

Surprisingly, we found a high-frequency word: Buidl.

I was really touched by all the individuals there.

It seems that people at NFT.NYC regained confidence in crypto and were determined to be more long-term bullish even in a bear market. It seems they truly believe in NFTs in spite of a crypto crash that has seen Ethereum plunge almost 80% since November 2021.

In my opinion, NFTs have truly changed dramatically and so fast over the last year. Everyone is crazy about NFTs. Everyone, no matter the artist, influencers, or celebrities tries to launch their kind of NFT with their fame and hopefully grab some cash-on-hand from it. But as time goes by, the coin crisis and the market is also pretty sluggish. Only the fundamentally concrete projects can survive.

True, people hate a bear market, and it’s not the first bear market, but actually, the bear market is the right time for builders to really focus on building.

Are NFTs Dead?

As we can see from the figure below, floor prices of blue chip projects like Otherdeed for Otherside, Azuki, Doodles, Cool Cats, Moonbirds, Invisible Friends, CloneX, World of Woman, and the Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC) are up 10–200% during NFT.NYC;

What makes you think NFTs are dead when you find that people want to be a diamond hand even if they are losing money?

What makes you think NFTs are dead when you witnessed thousands of enthusiasts gathering in NYC last week?

What makes you think NFTs are dead?

Quite evidently NFTs aren’t dead. We just need to be more careful.

Highlights of NFT.NYC 2022

As a marketing genius, goblintown.wtf will never let you down.

They got a McGoblin truck and parked outside McDonald’s!

I believe no one can resist their burgers.

While The Bored Ape Yacht Club, deeply troubled by the Bored Ape Nazi Club rumors, published a letter on Medium in response to the backlash.

Even in these bad cases, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) hosted the ApeFest with appearances of rappers Eminem and Snoop Dogg, who also premiered a music video featuring their BAYC avatars.

Madonna, who has recently ventured into the NFT space, announced her Finally Enough Love remix digitally abridged version album, also celebrated New York Pride at World of Women’s NFT.NYC event.

Wtf at the Big Apple? Everything is fake in NFT land, including Snoop Dogg? Interestingly, we got a fake Snoop Dogg walking with two bodyguards, which swept over social media.

On the other side, Doodles also announced their Doodles 2 during NFT.NYC 2022.

From the official Doodles 2.0 NFT trailer, it is suggested that the new NFTs collection is changeable and may become some new dynamic NFTs with more possibilities.

Azuki “Enter The Alley” provided us with the most unique Azuki Experience in NYC.

These are not just highlights of NFT.NYC 2022, and they delivered some big bullish signs in the future.

The NFT.NYC Conference –The Good & The Bad

The Good:

  • NFT.NYC is more like providing an opportunity for holders to join the parties and surrounding activities of blue chip NFTs.
  • It offers a place for the NFTs community to grow.
  • NFT.NYC 2022 provides a connecting spot to meet other like-minded people
  • It gives you a surreal experience beyond web3.0.
  • Under such circumstances, we can communicate with NFT holders, future holders, artists, gamers, governors, celebrities, NFT business runners, and investors.
  • Perhaps, we may get some business opportunities, merch, and prizes.

The Bad:

  • One of the biggest grouches was that the six floors for the conferences were too noisy with few quiet spaces.
  • For many, it was apparent that the event was extremely disorganized
  • Surrounding parties were actually way better than the main NFT.NYC event.
  • People gathered at the NFT.NYC conference and then many more joined just for satellite events around NYC.
