Where there is a myth it needs to be immediately busted. 2020 has been a year of confusions, uncertainty, negativity and on top of all these, a number of misconceptions around the pandemic. Since the very beginning of COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a circulation of various unsolicited tips on dos and don’ts around coronavirus. But as Nth Sense always emphasizes on the authenticity and reliability of any information around health, it took an onus of busting these myths and putting light on the facts.

In order to stop the wrong and circulate the right information, Nth Sense started to bring in front the reality of the misleading information. It all came from an authentic source rather than the secret unverified source of our uncle & aunties in our family chat groups.

Here is a simple compilation of all those major myths around 12 different concerns with their scientific facts,

  1. Water and Virus

There is no such evidence which supports this conception that drinking lots of water kills the coronavirus; it only aids you stay hydrated and prevents illness.

2. Swimming Pool and Virus

Swimming pools directly don’t spread the virus only if well-maintained & chlorinated; although staying away if it is crowded is advisable.

3. Alcohol and Virus

Alcohol consumption lowers the immunity; thus keep it till your sanitizers, it works better there.

4. Hot peppers and Virus

Adding hot pepper is for taste and good health but it has nothing to do with the cure to coronavirus.

5. Houseflies and Virus

Coronavirus is primarily spread through droplets generated via an infected person. Houseflies do not spread it.

6. Holding breath and Virus

Don’t become a self-doctor, confirm it with a laboratory test and nothing like holding your breath for some seconds. Symptoms of covid-19 are dry cough, fever & tiredness.

7. High temperature and Virus

Exposing yourself to the sun or high temperature cannot protect you from Covid-19 or countries with hot weather would not have reported vigorous cases.

8. Thermal scanners and Virus

Thermal scanners are useful to detect body temperature which can just be a symptom and not the infection of COVID-19. Virus can only be detected by RT-PCR test and/or Clinically examined CT scan.

10. Vitamin D,C & Zinc and Virus

Consuming micronutrients like vitamin D, C & zinc are just supplementary elements for a better functioning immune system. No evidence shows that it can cure COVID-19.

11. Mosquitos and Virus

Mosquitos spreads virus through blood and coronavirus spreads through the respiratory tract. Thus , they have no role here.

12. Saline water and Virus

Saline water can treat a blocked nose but not coronavirus. Don’t try things like these which are not medically proven but are just digital forwards.
