Healthcare innovation is in perpetual motion and the clinicians’ goal is to give the best care possible and now keep up with the new technological innovations in patient care. The roll-out of smart devices to provide real-time information access for clinicians to improve patient outcomes and reduce documentation time has varied globally.

The infrastructure of clinical buildings, internet speed, the return of investment on new innovations, culture and the rate of change management can impact implementation. The use of tablets and smartphones has been implemented but clinicians need both hands to care for their patients. The integration of technology and care creates a “start and stop” in care to document in real-time.
