Opportunities. It always seems like the best ones are hard to come by, and that’s particularly true when it comes to jobs. Success bias is everywhere. We’re often told how the most inspiring people ‘fell into’ great opportunities, almost reluctantly. But that doesn’t help, it’s unintentionally de-motivating. Conversely, there’s the less deflating but no more relatable ‘started from the bottom’ now they’re here crew, who have worked their way up through one company or industry. The unspoken fact is the world has changed and few people in the early years of their careers will stay with one company for its entirety. With the bubble bursting, many tech companies can’t even guarantee their own existence for that long. I imagine very few “30 years of service” awards will be granted to anyone born after the ’80s. So how do we find the opportunities that are right for us, right now?
In our next nuanced workshop we’ll be tackling this topic, giving our attendees all the tools and frameworks they need to make decisions in their job hunt effectively. As more professionals turn their eyes to freelancing, there’s a greater imperative to learn how to secure new clients and how to get involved in motivating projects. Sourcing the right opportunities must also start with knowing exactly what you’re looking for. What kind of roles and projects excite you as you start the next chapter of your career? Explore these questions and more with us this Sunday in our beautiful Breather space. Book your tickets here.
