I cannot comprehend the lack of empathy of anti-trans people

Pondering the heartlessness of those who take so much time and effort to relentlessly attack a minority.

In recent years there has been a growing voice of anti-trans ideas, that I find both perplexing and disturbing. Trans people are such a tiny minority; it’s hard to imagine anyone could feel threatened by them having rights to simply exist as they please. But here we are in a political and media world where the rights of a very few people are somehow dominant in so much political and cultural debate and dialogue.

Even just a couple of decades ago, I can recall trans and gender non-conforming people being novel but otherwise unexceptional parts of the entertainment world. Now suddenly, the existence of trans people in society is apparently a great threat? Trans people may have always been othered to a degree, but the move from, at best, perplexed-semi-tolerance, to outright rights-stripping hatred, is truly disturbing.

What I find most frustrating about this constant noise of ideas is that it seems to largely completely ignore trans people themselves, showing not one iota of care or consideration for what are often some of the most vulnerable and struggling people in society.
