NFT Discussion
In early 2021, NFTs caught the attention of mainstream media and since then has been a hot topic of discussion. Stories of memes and other digital assets selling for large sums of money have sparked debate as to what the value of NFTs really are and whether it is a bubble. Our panel tackled this question as well as many others.
The main takeaway from are:
- If NFTs remain unchanged, it is in fact a bubble because its value is subjective and offer up no real value.
- NFTs is still a largely unexplored area. There is a lot of untapped potentially (outside of digital art) that can potentially bring value.
- NFTs may play an important role in the establishment of a “metaverse” or virtual world that may run in parallel with the physical world.
- The environmental impact of NFTs and blockchain is a largely misunderstood area. Transition to Proof of Stake may be the solution to the issue among other things.
