Experience Capture is a series where we chronicle the campaigns and experiences of Capture App, a blockchain camera app that leverages the power of Numbers Protocol to secure digital assets through established ownership and context.

December 2020, the Numbers team launched Capture App globally for Android and iOS giving the general public access to a secure method of creating digital assets and the benefits of the blockchain. In parallel with Capture App’s global release was the running of the inaugural Capture Campaign: RainbowPetChallenge. Half a year later and we are back with another Capture Campaign. This time it’s a 10 sec video competition!

Campaign Details

Video support for Capture App was recently completed expanding Capture App’s reach in securing digital assets. 10 second video Capture campaign is our way of having the community have a little fun creating with the new feature and also enter for a chance to win some nice prizes.

All competitions need to have a theme so the theme of our inaugural Capture App competition is Funny Pet Dream! Animals bring us a lot of joy with their innocence and their cuteness is magnified when they are sleeping. We hope participants have fun capturing their furry friends and viewers smile when they see the videos.

Experiencing Capture App

Before Capture App, photo / video apps were strictly about snapping raw images or videos, editing them with filters and providing a gateway to sharing on social media channels.

Digital content has grown exponentially, becoming the primary source of information and opening up countless monetization opportunities. With the growth came misuse (ie: misinformation & deep fakes) as well infringement (copyright). Capture App extends its features past the creation stage and focuses on how to make digital assets secure and traceable.

Taking a photo with Capture App feels the same as taking a tradition photo, however a lot is happening behind the scenes to secure the asset. When an image is captured, Capture App utilizes the devices hardware to collect metadata (unique signatures / identifiers) to establish ownership and context. The asset along with its metadata are cryptographically signed and stored onto the blockchain making it immutable effectively sealing the data. Capture App makes the assets verifiable by generating a certificate of authenticity which can be made sharable via QR code. We take this a step further by injecting the digital asset itself with Content Authenticity Initiative metadata making it a multilayered information container that is traceable and verifiable even as it shared across the internet.

Conclusion

Well that’s it for the first installment of Experiencing Capture App! If you haven’t downloaded Capture App consider downloading on Android and iOS and letting us know what you think. We appreciate any and all feedback :) Happy Capturing!

Here at Numbers we are firm believers in open source projects and opening up innovation to everyone. If you are interested, Capture App project is open source and available for the public to view and contribute. Check it out!
