We’re incredibly excited to announce our partnership with NYC artist Dubwoman aka Giovanna Sun. Dubwoman is a verified creator on OpenSea and her artwork shows the role technology plays in expressing emotional experience.

In 2021, NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens) became a talking point of mainstream media following the multi-million dollar sale of digital art. With it came a wave of enthusiasm in art and crypto communities as well as many industries beyond it. 12 months later, NFTs remain in the spotlight as staples of innovative projects, services and NFT collections.

Dubwoman (A.K.A Giovanna Sun), is a well-known NFT artist based in New York. As a pioneer of Web3.0 and a technology enthusiast, her vision is to explore and fuse Web3.0 technologies with her life passion — art. Launching her first NFT collection in January 2021, Dubwoman has an impressive collection of NFT creations and has since become a verified creator on OpenSea. Giovanna’s NFT artwork showcases the role technology plays in expressing emotional experience. Her works are currently exhibited at Techspressionism: Digital and Beyond.

NFT? It’s not yet the ideal solution

The early sentiment surrounding NFTs was that digital media theft and fraud had been solved with the establishment of ownership and blockchain records. As NFTs have become more and more popular, this sentiment is far from the truth. In the 12 months following the NFT boom, theft and fraud still exist. Earlier this year, OpenSea, one of the largest NFT platforms, reported that more than 80% of its NFTs minted for free were unoriginal or fake. Many marketplaces that were created to capitalize on the 2021 NFT craze have shut down due to rampant unauthorized NFTs that populate their platforms. If this worrying fake and unoriginal NFT trend continues, NFTs will inevitably become the next valueless digital asset.

As a pioneer in this space, Giovanna recognizes the NFT shortfalls and has decided to partner with Numbers Protocol, an asset-based protocol for providing registration, creator signature and verification, to ensure the rights of creators and their creations are truly protected. Early in her NFT journey, Giovanna experienced the potential of NFTs to unlock and explore her artist creativity as well as its ability to enable her artistic works to be monetized. Despite its potential, Giovanna recognizes that in order to establish a healthy creator economy, more needs to be done to ensure the assets themselves are trustworthy and creator rights firmly established. This is where Numbers Protocol can step in.

Listen and understand the true needs.

“This partnership is very important to us. Many creators have high expectations for Numbers Protocol to provide better protection for their work and to create a healthier ecosystem. We do our best to eagerly listen to what creators really need and find ways to provide it with our protocol and technology. NYC is definitely iconic when you talk about art and creations. We learn from Giovanna about what artists in this city expect. Our collaboration with Giovanna validates our work in the digital media space and empowers us to continue the journey towards creating authentic digital content. In the future, we will have more collaborations with artists and creators from London, Berlin, Tokyo and many other great cities. We are excited to expand our community and look forward to talking with them and understanding their needs. Only through dialogue can we achieve a better creator economy and properly leverage Web3.0 technologies. ”, said Sherry Chung, the head of Ecosystem Partnership of Numbers Protocol.

Next, a better creator economy……

With technology moving very quickly and NFT relevance expanding to areas such as the MetaVerse and GameFi, it is critical that work in preserving digital media trust progresses rapidly. Numbers Protocol continues to improve and expand its services to equip creators with digital media that stand alone as traceable and verifiable assets. Partnering with Dubwoman is one small step towards creating more informed technology that better serves both Web3.0 and creator communities.

Dubwoman’s works will also be featured in our very own Numbers Protocol Metaverse, “Numberverse’’, replacing previous exhibitions by Kate Peters and J.N Silva. The exhibition will open on May 23, 2022 and will be available for 2 weeks.
