Greetings Singularitarians,

Over the past several days, NuNet has been onboarding testers to our new Discord server. We are now ready to open the server to members of the wider community. In this article, we will cover the purpose for the NuNet Discord, and how to join the server and onboard to the various roles.

The Purpose of the NuNet Discord Server

We have created the server to be a testing hub and each category of tester will have access to their own channels where information regarding onboarding, updates, issues and requests will be shared. There are public chat channels for testers to communicate with each other while the general community can view the conversations, but not post. We have also created separate open channels for the community to chat and collaborate.

The server will allow us to monitor testers and reward active participants with our Earndrop program. NuNet is open source, and therefore we wanted to create a testing communication platform that is also available publicly.

How To Join And Onboard

Joining the NuNet Discord server can be initiated by clicking this link. Users will then need to verify by accepting the rules and then clicking the computer emoji on the verification channel. This will grant access to the basic channels, such as the announcements and community chat. It will be possible to view some of the testing channels, but posting and participating in these other channels will be unavailable until the onboarding process for a group is completed, which we will cover next.

There are three main categories of testers currently: Compute Providers, Cardano SPOs (stake pool operators), and those interested in running applications on GPUs. Those who wish to join one of these testing groups should read the “About” sections and decide which one is a good fit for them, then complete the instructions, such as private messaging an administrator, who will carry out the screening process. Once this is complete, the user will be assigned the new role and be allowed to post and participate in the testing group.

Testers Onboarding Stages

We will first onboard compute providers to test the onboarding process, platform dashboard, and build NuNet infrastructure.

By onboarding compute providers first we can determine the initial resources available and then will open up testing and onboarding to SPOs and GPU ML use cases.

Work is still being done on both use cases and we will provide weekly development updates in each of the channels so the community is aware of the progress being made.

We look forward to welcoming community members to our new Discord server and working with and rewarding those who will help test our network as it develops.
