Greetings NuNetopians,

As we close out the third quarter of 2024, we’re excited to share the progress we’ve made and the milestones we’ve achieved over the past few months. It’s been a pivotal quarter for NuNet as we’ve laid the foundation for new features, enhanced transparency, and strengthened community engagement.

Product Launches

In Q3, NuNet made significant strides in its mission to build a decentralized computing and orchestration platform with the launch of three pivotal components: the Project Management Portal, Documentation Portal, and the much-anticipated DMS Release v0.5.x. These launches mark a major milestone in our journey toward transparency, collaboration, and cutting-edge decentralized device management.

Launch of Documentation Portal

In Q3, we launched the NuNet Documentation Portal. This portal is a vital resource for our open-source community, providing comprehensive, up-to-date documentation for all NuNet repositories. Designed to support transparency and collaboration, the portal ensures that contributors, developers, and partners have easy access to the latest project information and technical specifications.

The Documentation Portal features dynamic, living documentation that evolves alongside our platform, making it easier for our global community to engage, contribute, and stay informed. With detailed project overviews, contributor guidelines, and technical documentation, this portal is a cornerstone of our commitment to fostering an open, collaborative ecosystem.

Launch of Project Management Portal

In Q3 we also launched the Project Management Portal, a key tool designed to provide real-time visibility into our development progress. This portal offers our community and contributors a transparent view of ongoing projects, milestones, and releases, ensuring alignment across all stakeholders. With detailed project tracking and critical chain management integration, the portal helps streamline workflows and enhance collaboration across our decentralized platform.

This launch reinforces our commitment to transparency and collaboration, driving the efficient execution of our projects while engaging the broader community.

DMS v0.5.x Boot Release

Q3 marked a significant milestone for NuNet with the community testing phase of the Device Management Service (DMS) v0.5.0-Boot, our open-source orchestration system designed to enable decentralized, peer-to-peer compute networks. This release represents the foundational step in our mission to build a decentralized ecosystem where distributed devices — including edge devices, IoT nodes, and traditional servers — can contribute computing power without the need for centralized control.

The v0.5.0-Boot release invites developers and community members to participate in testing, refining, and evolving this open-source platform. With features like decentralized orchestration, blockchain-based micropayments, and peer-to-peer security, DMS enables devices across the globe to manage and monetize compute tasks seamlessly. The “Boot” phase serves as the initial starting point for testing orchestration across dynamic edge, IoT, and DePIN networks, laying the groundwork for a fully decentralized cloud.

As we continue this journey, we invite the community to get involved through testing, feedback, and collaboration. The release candidate phase will run from September through December 2024, with a final release planned for later this year.

Collaborations

At NuNet, collaboration is key to driving innovation and pushing the boundaries of decentralized computing. We’re excited to update the community on two groundbreaking partnerships that align with our mission: The Posemesh and CUDOs. These collaborations reflect our commitment to creating a robust and scalable decentralized ecosystem that spans edge, IoT, and spatial computing, while supporting the future of artificial intelligence and decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePIN).

NuNet & The Posemesh: Revolutionizing Spatial Computing

Our partnership with The Posemesh takes decentralized computing to a new frontier — spatial computing. As a leader in decentralized machine perception networks, The Posemesh allows devices to securely share spatial data and computing power, forming a collaborative understanding of the physical world. With NuNet’s decentralized compute platform, we are optimizing the deployment and management of The Posemesh’s relay and domain servers.

This collaboration focuses on creating low-latency, secure, and efficient infrastructure to support real-time spatial computing — essential for applications like autonomous devices and IoT. NuNet ensures optimal hardware resource utilization, allowing compute providers to contribute to multiple decentralized projects simultaneously, boosting efficiency and compensation for contributors.

NuNet & CUDOS: Building a Versatile Decentralized Computing Ecosystem

Our collaboration with CUDOS, a leading decentralized cloud platform, within the ASI Alliance combines the strengths of both platforms to create a scalable, decentralized computing infrastructure. NuNet brings its peer-to-peer orchestration technology to the table, enabling smaller contributors to monetize their idle compute power, while CUDOS offers data-center-level computing capabilities, providing the backbone for high-demand AI computations.

Together, we are building a robust compute marketplace that bridges the gap between edge and core computing. NuNet’s decentralized orchestration allows devices from across the network to seamlessly contribute compute resources, while CUDOS enhances the system’s scalability, ensuring efficient, large-scale data processing. This synergy empowers the development of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) and Artificial Superintelligence (ASI) while democratizing access to computational resources.

Looking Ahead: A New Era of Decentralized Innovation

These partnerships are just the beginning. Together with CUDOS and The Posemesh, we are building a versatile, scalable, and resilient decentralized computing infrastructure. These collaborations highlight the strength of combining decentralized orchestration with large-scale, data-centric solutions, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in decentralized networks, AI, and spatial computing.

NuNet’s Architectural Deep Dive

In Q3, NuNet released a comprehensive blog series that breaks down the key components of our decentralized computing architecture. This series aimed to provide the community with an in-depth understanding of the platform’s design and its innovative approach to open-ended computing. The series started with an introduction to Open-Ended Computing, highlighting its dynamic, evolving nature, which is essential for adapting to changing environments and technologies like decentralized networks and edge computing.

Following this, we explored NuNet’s Computational Model, diving into how the platform integrates both the Actor Model and Graph Computing. These powerful paradigms enable NuNet to achieve scalability, flexibility, and efficiency by decentralizing computation and managing complex, interconnected data. In the next post, we focused on the Actor Model, explaining how NuNet leverages independent actors to perform tasks in parallel, ensuring resilience and fault isolation. Finally, we wrapped up with a deep dive into Graph Computing, showcasing how NuNet uses graph structures for real-time data processing and dynamic adaptability across distributed nodes.

NuNets Position in the Decentralized Computing Stack

We also shared a detailed blog series that outlined the foundational aspects of its decentralized computing architecture. This series aimed to provide the community with a comprehensive look into the platform’s core design and how it drives innovation in decentralized computing. We began with an exploration of Decentralized Compute Resources, discussing how NuNet taps into a diverse range of global resources — from data centers to personal devices — offering a more resilient, scalable, and cost-effective alternative to traditional centralized cloud models.

Next, we delved into Decentralized Orchestration and Payments, highlighting how NuNet uses Web3 technologies and smart contracts to orchestrate tasks and enable secure, transparent payments across a decentralized network. This approach eliminates central control points, promoting a more democratic and flexible system for handling computational tasks.

Finally, we examined the Compute Payloads Layer, showcasing how NuNet dynamically allocates tasks to the most appropriate resources in real time. This layer ensures that workloads are efficiently managed across the decentralized network, adapting to varying demands while optimizing resource use.

TOKEN2049

NuNet had the opportunity to showcase its decentralized platform at TOKEN2049, the premier global event for the Web3 industry, held in Singapore. TOKEN2049 brings together founders, executives, investors, developers, and industry insiders to explore the vast opportunities in the Web3 space. At our booth and through various side events, the NuNet team connected with key players in the DePIN space, discussed upcoming trends, and explored potential collaborations in the decentralized compute landscape. The event provided unparalleled networking opportunities, allowing us to engage with existing and new token holders, and scout developments across startups, big cloud, and decentralized computing infrastructure.

During the event the NuNet team participated in a series of impactful side events focused on the rapidly evolving DePIN (Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Networks) ecosystem. These gatherings provided a unique opportunity to engage with leaders, innovators, and investors in the decentralized infrastructure space, fostering discussions around the latest advancements and opportunities. The events allowed us to explore potential collaborations, exchange ideas on future developments in decentralized computing, and gain insights into the investment strategies driving growth in the DePIN sector.

Open Source Summit

Our CEO and CTO, Kabir Veitas, also represented NuNet at the Open Source Summit in Vienna during LF Edge Day. Kabir delivered a presentation on “The Relevance and Importance of Open-Ended Computing for Decentralized Systems, Edge, and IoT,” a key topic for advancing decentralized computing infrastructure. We hope to share the recording of this insightful session soon with our community.

Team Development

During Q3, NuNet made significant progress in enhancing our internal development capabilities and broadening our expertise. We were pleased to welcome two new team members to our development team. Kanishka Nagaraj joined us in July as a Senior Software Developer, and in August, we welcomed Vyzo, also known as Dimitris Vyzovitis, as a Senior Software Architect. Vyzo brings extensive experience in decentralized technologies and a strong track record in blockchain development, with his contributions being instrumental in the development of go- libp2p!
