Greetings NuNetopians,

As we wrap up 2023 we would like to thank all of our community members for their support over the past year. After the launch of our Public Alpha testnet, many of our testers stepped up to flag issues and bugs while also helping others to complete the staged tasks. With this help, we successfully completed all four stages of the testnet, and we will continue towards the launch of mainnet in 2024. Many new initiatives have been launched to make this a reality and to further pave the way for NuNet’s future development, such as our new internal research team, PyOpenCL support, and a new development collaboration with Obsidian Systems, who were formerly our third-party auditor. Each of these initiatives will be examined in further detail in this article.

NuNet Launched Internal Research Team

Earlier this quarter we released a blog explaining our newly formed Research Team within NuNet. This specialized team is dedicated to advancing the frontiers of decentralized computing, focusing on both the core platform and innovative use-cases. NuNet Research is organized into distinct areas of focus, each contributing to the evolution of our platform. The purpose of this team is to research integrations and enhancements to the NuNet platform with the goal of improving features and functionalities.

Areas of focus for our research team include:

Core Platform

  • The Core Platform team is the foundation of NuNet Research, concentrating on the essential components required for the platform’s optimal functionality.

Use-cases and Features

  • Our Use-cases and Features team is tasked with exploring and developing new functionalities that extend the capabilities of the NuNet platform.

Architecture Level

  • At the architectural level, NuNet Research is focused on the integration and enablement of beneficial services.

NuNet Research represents our commitment to continuous innovation and improvement. By focusing on these key areas, we aim to not only enhance our platform but also to contribute significantly to the broader field of decentralized computing. We invite our community to join us on this exciting journey as we explore new horizons and redefine what is possible in the world of decentralized technology.

Stay tuned for updates on the progress and breakthroughs from NuNet Research Team.

NuNet Adds Support for PyOpenCL

NuNet is happy to announce that we have added support for scientific computing in DeSci by integrating PyOpenCL on our Public Alpha Testnet SPD (Service Provider Dashboard). This initiative introduces PyOpenCL-based Dockerfiles — each for NVIDIA and AMD GPUs, to support the Conda environment in a vendor agnostic manner. The main aim of these containers is to introduce scientific computing and enhance machine learning by providing a robust and flexible environment.

NuNet Initiates Collaboration with Obsidian Systems

In December NuNet announced that Obsidian Systems, who have previously lent their expertise as auditors for NuNet’s Public Alpha, have now been subcontracted as an additional muscle to our security team. As such, we will be contracting a separate independent auditor at some point in the future to audit the NuNet platform. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in our journey towards the acceleration of NuNet’s Public Alpha on mainnet.

Team Updates and Open Positions

NuNet has welcomed 11 new team members in 2024 bringing the total number of NuNet employees to 32.

NuNet currently has a number of open positions for various roles within the team. If you have the skills and desire to join us in our journey, you can find more information and contact us through our careers page.

Events

Cardano Summit

The NuNet team attended the Cardano Summit event this November in Dubai. It was a fantastic event where the NuNet team built valuable connections with community members, testers and developers who have aided in the development of the NuNet platform.
