As the year comes to a close, I’ve spent time reflecting on our many accomplishments at Nurx, my overwhelming gratitude for our patients, and how we can continue to deliver on our commitment to reimagining the healthcare experience in the year ahead.
In many ways 2019 was a challenging year for those focused on making healthcare more affordable and accessible, especially in the incredibly important areas of birth control and STI testing and prevention. The new guardrails placed on federal family planning funding through the Title X program led clinics to close in areas where affordable care is already too hard to come by, and state laws seeking to restrict access to abortion caused women to worry that their access to contraception could be next.
At Nurx the events of 2019 have made us more determined than ever to ensure we’re meeting your sensitive health needs, privately, respectfully, and with compassion. And we’ve been busy making good on that mission! We launched home testing for HPV and sexually transmitted infections and have already provided thousands of people with essential knowledge about their STI status (and for those who tested positive, either prescribed treatment or connected them with care). We expanded into seven new states, which means Nurx care is now available to more than 85% of the US population. Plus, we’ve been hard at work planning how to provide you with more health services in 2020. You’ll hear from us soon!

When I reflect on all we’ve accomplished in 2019 I’m filled with gratitude for the people who make it all possible, our Nurx patients. By entrusting us with the care of some of their most personal health issues they’ve allowed us to expand to provide that care to more people, and to grow the range of sensitive healthcare services we can offer. As busy as 2019 was, 2020 will be even more packed with news from Nurx, and I can’t wait to share what’s next with you!
