Congratulations on making it to NYU! Wave that NYU card of yours, because if you’re a NYU student in New York, chances are that you just got yourself a golden ticket to places most folks have pay to get into!

1. Access to NYU Fitness Centers

For all you fitness and workout enthusiasts out there, why pay to go to the gym when you can get to work out at the Palladium or NYU 404 Fitness for free?

To get in, simply pass your NYU student card to the counter service and you get to enjoy all the equipments and gym spaces the place has to offer! Do check out the Palladium Athletic Facility at 14 St Union Sq though, it is basically a sports complex with a huge pool and an indoor basketball court. Treadmills face the basketball court so you could have a good view of the basketball game going on while sweating it out! Now, how does working out with a view sound?

2. Free Broadway Tickets

Many of us folks who are in New York gotta catch a Broadway show at least once. However, Broadway shows can be really pricey and unaffordable (cue The Hamilton, with price starting at $285). While trying our luck optimistically at the daily digital or in-person Broadway lottery could land us into one of the shows some day (cross fingers), why not just get yourself a free or discounted Broadway ticket from the NYU Ticket Central! On-going shows right now: Red Roses, Green Gold, Anastasia and Wicked.

3. Museums

Another major perk of the NYU card — all NYU students get free access to various museums across the City. To get a free entry, simply show your NYU ID card to the purchase counter. I particularly enjoyed visiting the Whitney Museum of American Art, located at 99 Gansevoort St (Take a L train from 14 St Union Square towards 14 Street 8 Av to get there). Not only were the exhibits on American Art interesting, the view of the Manhattan skyline from the rooftop balcony was breathtaking! If you have been to the High Line and loved the view from up there, you’d definitely enjoy the view from the rooftop balcony as well.

Another museum which you should definitely check it out with your NYU student card is the Museum of Modern Art (most notably known aas MOMA). Pro-tip: Avoid visiting on Uniqlo Free Friday afternoons 4–8pm if you don’t want your view of The Starry Night painting by Vincent Van Gogh to be blocked by a crowd of people in front of you (taking photos).

4. Travel & Transportation

Once in a while, we’d love to travel to other states for a good holiday. With the NYU card, we students also get to purchase Amtrak tickets (travelling by railway) at special student discounted rates or if you prefer travelling to states further out, book with Egencia for discounts on your flights, with discounts ranging from 2–7% off the published fare with Delta Airlines and 10–40% with Etihad Airways! Car rentals are also available at preferred rates on Egencia if you are ever looking to organize a road trip with your fellow mates around the US.

5. Shopping

Get your healthy dose of shopping therapy dreams fulfilled without burning a hole in your wallet with your NYU card! Participating retailers which offer student discounts include Club Monaco (20% of on all items including those already on sale for students), Topshop (10% of all items when you sign up for a free Student Beans membership), Kate Spade (15% off for students) and a few other stores as well.

That’s all for now, folks!
