Hello everyone!

It’s no secret that the fish is full of delicious and healthy food. Life itself is known to have started in the oceans, and millions of years later, life in the waters continues to sustain life on land, even in its developmental stages. Proper nutrition can not only determine development of unborn children, but it can prevent diseases in their pregnant mothers.

According to the Cleveland Clinc, “Cardiovascular disease affects 4 out of 100 pregnancies.” The prevalence of cardiovascular disease can exponentially increase the likelihood of birth complications. These health issues affect black women at three times the rate of their white and Latino counterparts.

Naturally, a healthy diet can help negate the likelihood of cardiovascular disease and subsequent complications. That’s where salmon comes in! According to WebMD, salmon is a great choice of meat for those trying to improve their health, as this fish has a host of health benefits. Some of these benefits include:

  • Reduce artery inflammation.
  • Lower cholesterol levels.
  • Maintain blood pressure.
  • Prevent excess fluid retention.
  • Reduce heart attacks, strokes, arrhythmia (abnormal heartbeat), high blood pressure, and high triglycerides.

For anyone interested in tips on how to cook salmon, we have included a recipe for salmon balls for you all try! Be sure to stay up to date with us here at NutriNatal for more educational and nutritional posts.
