If you’re unfamiliar with the story of the Samaritan woman, it involved her in many sexual relationships. Before she started sleeping around with strangers, the Samaritan woman had 5 husbands.

Her struggles become clearer during her conversation with Jesus. John 4 narrates the story of the Samaritan woman.

So when the Lord learned that the Pharisees had been told that Jesus was making and baptizing more disciples than John, (although Jesus himself was not baptizing, His disciples were), He left Judea and returned to Galilee. Now, he had to go through Samaria.

The Jewish leaders of the day, better known as the Pharisees, were harassing Jesus again. So Jesus went to Galilee from Judea.
The Pharisees considered the Samaritans impure. So they avoided going through Samaria.

Jesus took the unusual route.
